COLONEL (Ret) CHRISTOPHER D. LATCHFORD
COUNTERDRUG EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Colonel Latchford became the Northeast Counter Drug Training Center Executive Director on 29 October 2007 after retiring from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, with 33 years of service.

     Colonel Latchford enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army Nation Guard after graduation from high school 1974 and served as a Jet Turbine Engine Repairman through 1977. Colonel Latchford attended Officer Candidate School and received a commission to 2LT on 21 May 1978 .  Colonel Latchford went on to complete the Transportation Officer Basic Course, followed by Rotary Wing Flight Training, receiving his Army Aeronautical Rating and wings in 1980.  Colonel Latchford continued his aviation career by attending the Aircraft Maintenance Test Pilot Course, Aircraft Instructor Pilot Course, and the Multi-Engine Fixed Wing Course. Colonel Latchford is a graduate of the Aviation

Officer Advanced Course, Aviation Safety Officer Course, Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle PA.

     Colonel Latchford has served as a Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Aviation Brigade Assistant Operations Officer, Aviation Brigade Logistics Officer, Aviation Battalion Executive Officer, Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Chief of Flight Training with the Eastern Army Aviation Training Site, Commander of the Army Aviation Support Facility, Fort Indiantown Gap, Commander of Muir Army Airfield and most recently served as the 28th Combat Aviation Brigade Commander and also as the State Army Aviation Officer for the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

     Colonel Latchford’s awards and decorations include the Army Master Aviator Badge, Legion of Merit with one oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal.

     Colonel Latchford holds a bachelor's degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and holds a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College .
