The Pennsylvania National Guard Counterdrug Program supports the Drug Demand Reduction efforts of Community-based coalitions and educational institutions. The Drug Demand Reduction Administrator (DDRA) has established partnerships with local, state and federal groups that present our youth with alternatives to illegal drug use.
All services provided by the National Guard Counterdrug DDR Program are at no cost to the agency supported. In the past 10 years, the DDR program has supported thousands of youth throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
National Guard DDR services available to your agency include:
Community Based Support: Support provided to community activities primarily designed to educate, train, or otherwise prevent drug abuse among youth. This includes support of youth centers, drug-free events, community recreational programs, safe havens, and community mobilization events.
Educational Institution Support: Support provided to community based activities that focus on educational institutions, or have an educational institution as the primary sponsor. These activities are designed to educate, train, and/or prevent youth from using illegal drugs. Community based activities include tutoring, mentoring, after school programs, drug-free activities, role modeling programs, and sports-drug awareness programs.
Informational Support: This support is for the sole purpose of providing information about drug abuse or drug abuse programs. Support includes static displays, Red Ribbon Campaigns, distribution of educational material, and joint information dissemination projects with the RAID Detachment aircraft.
Leadership Development Support: Supports youth leadership camps, retreats, seminars, and programs that focus on developing drug abuse prevention and leadership skills in youth and adults.
Coalition Development Support: Assists in the development of functioning community organizations to reduce the illegal use of drugs, and facilitates community based training on effective coalition development.
